美國副國安顧問博明（Matt Pottinger）在中國「五四運動」101周年的這一天，用中文发表演說，以古鑒今，談到中國公民對五四精神的勇敢追求。他說：「中國人不適合民主是一派胡言，今天的台灣就是鮮活的證據。五四精神的繼承人是有公民意識的中國公民，像是武漢肺炎的吹哨人李文亮就是這樣的人。」博明在演說最後向中國人民留下問句：五四民主願望還要等到下個世紀來實現嗎？
