IMAGINE 幻想

The entrance to the memorial is located on Central Park West at West 72nd Street, near where John Lennon was murdered outside his home, the Dakota. The memorial is a triangular piece of land falling away on the two sides of the park, and its focal point is a circular pathway mosaicof inlaid stones, with a single word, the title of Lennon's famous song "Imagine". 在1971年，約翰連儂（John Lennon）和妻子小野洋子（Yoko Ono）住在英國鄉下一幢豪華的别墅。年初，某一天的早晨，連儂起床後在洋子的陪伴下，寫下了《幻想》的歌詞。其音樂部份，則在他家那架著名的白色鋼琴上寫成的。網上是這樣說的。但最近（2007），小野洋子說，連儂的《幻想》（IMAGINE）的創作靈感是來自她，因她自少在日本感到戰爭的苦難，於是給連儂靈感，讓他寫下了這首不朽的名曲。歌詞非常簡單，描寫的是一個令人向往的世界。

就在那個年代，我的一位同學，拿著木結他，在巨形的十字架前，向幾百個年青人唱這首歌，學校當局竟沒有禁止，事後亦無警告，他覺得非常慶幸。他現時在美國一所大學教中國歷史。我絕對看不出這裡有什麼因果關係，或許，是那個年代年青人的反叛心態。有的是一反到底，至死不移，吸毒逃避，有的切底否定自己，但是，絕大多數結了婚，生了子，還移了民，去反個什麼，就繼續去『幻想』一下便算了。

不錯，這已經是超過3個10年了。黃河的水會乾，鋼琴的聲音會停，紅燈會熄滅，但是心還沒有死。在70年代，那時還年輕，想到歐洲流浪，想去加德滿都，想來美國留學，結果選擇留在母親的身旁。不滿現實之餘，關心自己所處的社會，認識自己的根，幻想一下另外的一個世界。

30年後，沒有像這首歌的制作人Phil Spector 變成殺人犯，連儂亦死在歌迷的槍下。有幸的，我卻做一個業餘翻譯匠，再沒想到歐洲流浪，也不會去加德滿都，已經是身在美國了。遺憾的是，母親已不在身邊。對現實還有一點憤怒，對週圍的人有一點熱情，對世界仍有一點幻想。不會彈鋼琴，不會玩結他，只會唱歌，對 IMAGINE 這首歌的喜愛，依然不減。
